Monday Morning and off to Work?

Someone once said that if we are doing what we are passionate about…it’s not work!

Have you found that “perfect job” that you would love to do? or still searching?

Our “work”: How important is it to us?

Are we finding joy and peace in our everyday work?

We are called to God first and then to our secondary calling…which may be our job, business, volunteering or what we do in “retirement”

A new week and a big day for each of us! What are we going to do with this great opportunity!

“Father, order my steps, guide my way and direct me to Your appointments and Your opportunities for this day. Make my way a prepared way; make my words wise words, make my responses loving responses. I ask that You would open the doors that need to be opened.

May those I speak to have open hearts to receive the words that Your Holy Spirit gives me to say. May they be timely words, spoken in due season, to meet the needs of those who hear I pray for opportunities that will allow me to speak Your truth, Your light, and Your wisdom with clarity and unction.

Give me favor where favor is needed grace where grace is needed, and boldness where boldness is needed to declare Your great love to needy hearts.”

From His Footsteps, My Pathway, by Roy Lessin. A one minute devotion on September 10. A Prayer for Opportunity. “Meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word.” Colossians 4:3 NKIV

A word from The Call by Os Guinness

“Calling is the truth that God calls us to himself so decisively that everything we are, everything we do, and everything we have is invested with a special devotion, dynamism, and direction lived out as a response to his summons and service” P. 29

As Oswald Chambers states : “The circumstances of a man’s life are ordained by God. In the life of a saint there is no chance. God by His providence brings you into circumstances that you cannot understand at all, but the Spirit of God understands. God brings you to places, among people, and into certain conditions to accomplish a definite purpose through the intercession of the Spirit in you.”

Theologian Dr. R.C. Sproul. “God’s sovereign providence stands over and above our actions. He works out His will through the actions of human wills, without violating the freedom of those human wills.”

One of my favorite Bible verses: Trust in the

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

John Henry states in his article A Conversation on Callingin the book His Kingdom Come

We are called to a vocation. Vocation is our unique call of purpose, the call to serve beyond our daily tasks. Vocation is more than discipleship. Vocation is deeper and wider than career. Vocation is our very personal response to the voice of God. Vocation is our lifework, our special gift of worship, which is the sum of all our gifts, talents, and abilities to serve God’s purpose in our generation (1 Cor.. 3:13-15; 2 Tim. 2:5, 4:8)
